Introduction
The Upgrade Diploma in Teacher Education (UDECTE) is tailored for in-service teachers holding a valid KNEC ECDE Certificate. Following the phasing out of Teacher Certificate Courses (ECDE and P1), this program equips trainees with CBC-aligned professional competencies in pedagogy, professional practice, and content delivery—preparing them to serve effectively as Diploma teachers in Pre-primary and Primary levels (DTE-PP&P). Training runs for seven school terms: six for coursework and one for practicum/teaching practice.
